What is a bio-hazard?
Biological hazards, also known as biohazards, refer to biological substances that pose a threat to the health of humans and other living organisms. This can include faeces, bodily fluids such as urine, blood etc, tissue matter, medical waste or samples of a microorganism, virus or toxin (from a biological source) that can impact human health. It can also include substances harmful to animals.

How are bio-hazards spread?
Micro-organisms may be spread by contact with the body fluids of an infected person or items contaminated with body fluids e.g. needles and syringes. The risk from bio-hazards are quite high, the two most likely are hepatitis and HIV, both potentially fatal. Under the COSHH regulations we are required to eliminate or reduce as far as possible the risks of bio-contamination.

What protective measures do we take?
Micro-organisms, contained in body fluids, can remain active for long periods of time. Monadchoice employees tasked with cleaning up after an incident are fully trained in:

• The correct procedures to be taken.
• The selection of appropriate personal protective clothing.
• The selection of appropriate equipment.
• The most effective ways to ensure that soiled areas/objects are left hygienically safe.
• The safe disposal of contaminated items.

How do we ensure that the soiled areas are left hygienically safe?
With the use of the Cleanitise Black Light, the ultimate in infection control, the UV light highlights all protein and unclean areas that need cleaning. The UV light is then used to re-inspect the areas after the cleaning procedure, highlighting if any further cleaning is necessary.

City and County of Swansea Council

To whom it may concern,

The Parks Service of the City & County of Swansea have their main depot ‘Home Farm’ situated in Singleton Park. The main depot includes office accommodation which has to be cleansed to a high standard.

Monadchoice are our current contractor undertaking this work and I am pleased to confirm the standard of cleanliness is very high throughout all the offices, messroom and toilet facilities.

Due to the contents of the building it is essential to alarm such a facility and Monadchoice therefore are entrusted as key holder for the site, which will entail the de-activating and activating of alarm system, of which I have full confidence and trust in their staff.

They regularly send a supervisor to the site to inspect quality of work and there is a ‘customer comments’ book always available on site to ease communication between both client and contractor, however the company can be contacted easily via telephone or email.

Following rigorous trials with The City & County of Swansea Cleansing Department and Monadchoice Ltd, Specialist Contract Cleaning Company. Cleanitise is now being used daily through high pressure washer systems for the Pavement and Street Cleaning. It has been successfully proven without doubt that the chemical Cleanitise not only cleans the pavements, walkways and cobbled streets to perfection with its degreaser, cleaner and sanitising properties but it also removes any mould and algae which causes the surfaces to be slippery when wet.

When regularly using Cleanitise in this application it keeps the pavements free of mould simultaneously degreasing and sanitising all areas.
